Request a Pilot Test

Request a Bench or Pilot Test

What we need from you to scope the test: contaminant identity, approximate concentration, matrix characterisation data (conductivity, COD, chloride, pH), design flow rate, and the discharge target the test must demonstrate. The form below captures all of this.

Why engineers trust this process

Bench and pilot test scope depends on the specific application. The intake form below covers the information needed to design a test protocol. If you do not have all parameters, submit what you have — we will identify the gaps.

Pilot request reviewed: July 2026.

Tell us about your stream

The more context you provide, the more precisely we can scope the test protocol. If data is not available, leave the field blank — we will identify what pre-testing characterisation is required.

Sample availability

Submission triggers a review by a process engineer within 2 business days. We will confirm receipt, identify any missing parameters, and return a proposed test scope.

Your data is secure

We do not share your information with third parties. Submission triggers a direct response from our engineering team — not a sales sequence.

Response within 2 business days

Every submission is reviewed by an engineer, not a sales representative. You will receive a substantive response — not a product brochure.

NDA available on request

For proprietary matrix compositions or undisclosed site locations, we are happy to sign an NDA before you share characterisation data.

Validate Right Away

Testing simulates physical, chemical, or biological methods to confirm a treatment process can achieve required discharge or reuse standards

What you need to submit — and what we do with it

What the bench report will contain

j-removal curve

We run 5–6 current density points and produce a j-removal curve. You receive the optimal operating current density for your specific stream.

Charge density at target removal

We establish the Ah/L value at which your target compound reaches the discharge limit. This is the primary commercial sizing parameter.

Byproduct profile

AOX, bromate, fluoride, and any matrix-specific byproducts profiled alongside target compound removal.

Energy consumption figure

kWh/m³ at the confirmed optimal current density — the primary operating cost input for your project economics.

How the programme works

Five steps from request to report

1

Submit your pilot request

Complete the intake form above. Within 2 business days, you will receive a proposed test scope, required sample volume, shipping instructions, and a cost estimate for the programme.

2

Send your sample

Ship the sample to our testing facility with the completed sample information sheet. For sites with NDA requirement, the NDA is countersigned before you share any data.

3

Bench test execution

Bench test run against the proposed protocol. Typically 3–6 weeks depending on the scope. You receive a progress update at the midpoint. Scope adjustments are discussed with you before any deviation from the agreed protocol.

4

Test report and commercial specification

Bench report: j-removal curves, charge density at target, energy consumption, byproduct profile. If bench data supports commercial development, a preliminary commercial specification is included: electrode area, operating current density, power supply rating, and energy cost model.

5

Pilot programme (if required)

For applications requiring CERCLA destruction documentation, regulatory submission, or complex matrix validation, a pilot programme on-site or at our facility follows the bench programme. Scope is agreed before bench completion.

Sample requirements

What to send, how much, and how to ship it

Most bench programmes require 20–50 litres of representative sample. For leachate, produced water, and high-volume process streams, 20 litres is sufficient for a full bench protocol. For low-volume side-streams or precious process samples, contact us before shipping — minimum sample requirements vary by contaminant concentration and the number of current density points in the protocol. Samples must be shipped in clean HDPE containers (no metal) in an insulated box with ice packs to maintain temperature below 10°C during transit. PFAS samples must use dedicated PFAS-free HDPE containers with no PTFE-lined caps. Regulatory compliance for sample transport (UN-classified hazardous materials, PFAS as emerging contaminant) is handled under your site’s existing sample shipping procedure — we can provide shipping guidelines on request.

Common questions

Pilot Test Request FAQ

Yes. We work under NDA before any confidential information is shared. The NDA covers site identity, compound identity, and matrix characterisation data. Many clients ship samples with a site reference code rather than a named location. The bench test protocol can be designed around a compound class (e.g. ‘fluoroquinolone antibiotic at 2 mg/L’) rather than a specific named compound if the compound identity is undisclosed.
3–6 weeks from sample receipt for a standard bench protocol covering 5–6 current density points, charge density at target, and basic byproduct profile. Complex protocols — multi-target streams, extended byproduct panels, biological pre-treatment comparison — extend to 8–12 weeks. Timeline is agreed before the programme starts. We do not conduct open-ended programmes — the scope and timeline are fixed at the programme start.
If bench data shows EO does not achieve the required removal at practical charge density and energy consumption, we say so in the bench report. The report will include the reason — whether it is high competing oxidant demand from bulk COD, scavenging by specific matrix components, or an unsuitable contaminant class — and will recommend whether biological pre-treatment before EO would change the outcome or whether a different technology is more appropriate. A bench result that concludes ‘EO is not the right fit here’ is not a failed programme — it is the correct outcome of the evaluation process.

NDA-first

We sign NDAs before any confidential data is shared. Site identity and compound identity can remain undisclosed throughout the programme.

Engineer-designed

Every test protocol is designed by a process engineer with EO application experience — not by a sales team selecting from a standard menu.

Report-formatted

Bench reports are formatted for commercial specification and regulatory submission — not as internal lab notes.
