Electro Oxidation Unit Installation and Setup

The gap between equipment arriving on a truck and a system running at its design point is where most schedule slippage happens. This page covers what that process actually involves.

Site readiness

What has to be in place before we arrive

A site-readiness checklist goes out ahead of installation, covering: electrical service confirmed against the rectifier’s actual nameplate rating (not just the general site voltage), floor drainage or secondary containment sized to the skid footprint, ventilation adequate for hydrogen off-gas with a documented air-change rate, physical access clear to the skid’s shipping dimensions plus rigging clearance, and a confirmed tie-in point for feed and discharge piping at the correct elevation. Confirming all of these in advance is what keeps an installation to its scheduled days rather than turning into a multi-visit process.

Engineering note

The single most common cause of a delayed installation is a facility’s electrical infrastructure not matching what was confirmed at order stage — usually because the person who filled out the site survey wasn’t the same person who later checked the panel. We recommend a facilities engineer sign off on the readiness checklist, not just process staff.

A typical installation schedule

What the days actually look like

A representative commercial-scale installation runs over four to five working days: day one covers rigging and final positioning plus initial plumbing tie-ins; day two covers electrical termination at the rectifier and instrumentation wiring; day three covers instrumentation calibration and control-loop verification; day four is the supervised startup sequence, bringing the system to its target operating point under direct observation; day five is reserved for performance verification sampling and handover documentation. Smaller bench or pilot-scale installations typically compress to one to two days, while larger multi-reactor commercial systems can extend to seven to ten days depending on site complexity.

When readiness falls short

A recent example, and how it was resolved

On one recent installation, the site-readiness checklist confirmed adequate electrical service, but the panel’s actual available capacity had been reduced since the original survey by an unrelated equipment addition elsewhere in the facility — discovered only when our electrician verified the panel on day one. Rather than proceeding on undersized service, installation was paused for two days while the facility’s electrician confirmed a dedicated circuit from a different panel with adequate headroom, at the cost of a short schedule delay rather than a system running on inadequate power indefinitely.

On-site scope

Plumbing, electrical, and startup

On-site work covers final plumbing connections, electrical termination at the rectifier, instrumentation calibration, and a supervised startup sequence that brings the system to its target operating point under our team’s direct observation. Startup includes verifying actual removal performance against the design basis before we consider the installation complete — not just confirming the unit powers on.

Handover

What you have at the end of installation

Installation closes with a handover package: as-built documentation, calibration records, startup performance data against the design target, and a defined transition into Training Programs for your operating team. The system doesn’t get left running without someone on your side confirmed capable of operating it.
